Reiki, a Japanese energy healing technique, has gained widespread popularity worldwide, particularly through the practice of Usui Reiki, developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.
The term "Reiki" loosely translates to 'universal energy' and involves the practitioner laying hands on or over the recipient to transmit energy, effectively removing blockages within the body. This holistic approach addresses the person as a whole, encompassing the body, emotions, mind, and spirit, resulting in various positive effects such as relaxation, a sense of peace, security, and overall well-being.
The profound impact of Reiki lies in its ability to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. Regardless of one's belief system, Reiki operates independently and can serve as a delightful and relaxing therapy, potentially bringing transformative changes to one's life.
Notably, certain NHS trusts now offer referrals for Reiki therapy as an adjunct to conventional medical care, highlighting its growing recognition within mainstream healthcare.
Embrace the potential of Reiki – a therapy not bound by belief but capable of delivering a serene and transformative experience for individuals seeking relaxation and positive life changes.
A typical session generally lasts about 60 minutes, although your first appointment will be slightly longer. During your initial session, we will walk you through the process, discuss your current conditions, complete necessary paperwork, and have a conversation about your desired outcomes. We encourage you to share any thoughts or feedback after the session, as it greatly contributes to personalizing your future sessions.
Reiki is administered while you are fully clothed and comfortably seated in an antigravity chair, designed to support your entire body. This makes it an excellent choice, especially if you have any issues with your back. Following each session, you'll receive an aftercare sheet, and if you have any questions, we are always here to help. Your well-being is our priority."
Reiki may be done with a light gentle light touch or my hands may be a few inches above your body with no actual touch. Let me know at the beginning of the session which you prefer, light touch or no touch.
Most clients feel a sense of relaxation and peace. You may feel heat, cold, a slight tingling or energy from the practitioners hands and you may see colours. Reiki is so relaxing that sometimes clients may fall asleep during the session, you still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake.
One session is a great start! Many people, after trying one session, go on to book further sessions due to the results of the first session. One session can help but just like your garden which needs weeding and maintenance, we also need maintenance and support.
No, Reiki is beneficial and works with your body’s energy. In fact, your own energetic body is in control of how much Reiki it wants and needs during the session and utilizes it accordingly. Like breathing, you will comfortably take in as much as you need to support you.
Yes, there are a few considerations for Reiki. It's advised to avoid Reiki if you have a pacemaker, are in the early stages of pregnancy, or currently dealing with alcohol-related concerns. If any of these apply to you, we can discuss alternative options or modify the session to ensure your safety and well-being. Please feel free to share any additional information or concerns you may have.
